Technical Committees
IMA is a voice for our members and the profession at-large on key technical issues affecting management accounting and the business community. Members with specific technical expertise can volunteer to serve on one of our chartered Technical Committees.
We accept applications for Technical Committee positions year-round, with appointments made each spring for the upcoming fiscal year. Committee members may serve a maximum of six consecutive one-year terms.
Financial Reporting Committee (FRC)
IMA’s FRC follows the latest developments in financial reporting and develops our positions related to financial accounting, auditing, and corporate reporting. This includes proposed rules, regulations, principles, and standards by authoritative bodies. The FRC is designed to advocate on behalf of IMA members and the profession at-large.

Committee on Ethics (CoE)
IMA’s CoE encourages our members and other professionals to adopt, promote, and execute business practices consistent with the highest ethical standards. CoE members work to promote and maintain IMA’s Statement of Ethical Professional Practice, IMA’s Ethics Helpline, and Ethics Compliance Procedures, and contribute to IMA’s technical subject matter on the topic of ethics.

Small Business Committee (SBC)
IMA’s SBC aims to advance the overall quality, operations, and effectiveness of financial reporting for small businesses by following and responding to emerging issues. The committee shares influence in the development of standards, interpretations, and regulatory requirements by standard-setting bodies.

Technology Solutions and Practices (TS&P) Committee
The TS&P Committee promotes research and builds awareness around existing and emerging technological advancements affecting the work of management accountants. The committee aims to enable the performance of professionals and their organizations.

IMA Research Foundation
The IMA Research Foundation provides funding, development, and dissemination of practical, relevant, and timely research in the area of management accounting. Grant proposals are reviewed and evaluated based on their potential to contribute to IMA’s body of knowledge and define the current and future competencies needed in the profession.

ICMA Exam Review Committee
The ICMA Exam Review Committee helps the ICMA Board of Regents ensure the excellence and integrity of the CMA and CSCA exams. Committee members, along with members of the Board of Regents, participate in the review of proposed exam questions.
